Female Rehabilitation Support Worker – Skelmersdale

£15.00 – £18.00 per hour dependant on experience

Hours – initially 18 per week with a view to potentially increasing

Current shifts:

Monday 12:00 – 18:00

Wednesday 14:00 – 20:00

Friday 11:00 – 17:00

Our client is a female in her 40s who lives with her husband in Skelmersdale. Our client sadly suffered a brain injury in 2017 which means that she now requires some assistance with personal care, mobility and communication.

We are looking for a fun loving, caring and compassionate support worker to work closely with our client, her husband and her therapy team to support her to reach her goals. We are looking for a musically minded individual who would enjoy perusing record stores, researching and attending suitable gigs and live music events, shopping and coffees with our client.

You will work closely with the clients therapists and Case Manager to reach the clients rehab goals. You must be able to follow rehabilitation guidelines closely. You will need to work on your own initiative and be able to complete thorough documentation to assess the effectiveness of rehab and work towards rehab goals.

Essential

  • Brain injury rehab or work within clients own home 2 years minimum
  • NVQ level 2 or equivalent
  • Good spoken and written English
  • Excellent timekeeping
  • Excellent organisational skills
  • Fit and healthy enough to carry out manual handling tasks and lifting (wheelchair in to car etc)
  • Ability to swim and safely assist clients in the water
  • Flexibility to work differing shifts based on the clients needs
  • Ability to potentially accompany the client on holidays in the future
  • A keen interest in rehabilitation
  • Experience of safer handling of people
  • Experience of communication aids and working with people who have communication difficulties
  • A keen interest in music, bonus points for The Beatles, David Bowie and Elton John
  • Fun loving, intelligent, ability to take initiative
  • An enhanced DBS will be required for this post

Desired

  • 2 years experience working within an MDT in community rehabilitation
  • Ability to play a musical instrument
  • Diploma level 4 in health and social care
